Five favourites for emergency vehicles
Whether fire brigade, rescue service or disaster control: technology must work reliably in emergency vehicles. Many devices depend on a stable power supply, to which our five favourites make a significant contribution. We present them in detail here.
1. PowAirBox II: Compact power supply with automatic ejection and integrated start prevention
The PowAirBox II is a sophisticated system for feeding external energy into emergency vehicles. With an installation depth of just 75 mm (instead of the previous 121 mm), it can be integrated in a space-saving manner.
The automatic ejection of the plug connection when the engine is started is wear-free, just like the manual ejection. The PowAirBox II can be easily integrated into the vehicle communication system via the CAN bus. A version with a compressed air connection is also available as an option.
In short: small, robust and intelligent - the PowAirBox II fits perfectly into modern emergency vehicles.

2. TS Pro: DC-DC charger for auxiliary units in accordance with DIN 14679:2024
Emergency vehicles often carry powerful equipment, such as generators or portable pumps. To ensure that their starter batteries are always ready for use, they need a charger that charges them gently and reliably.
The charging characteristics of the TS Pro are multi-stage and comply with the current specifications of DIN 14679 (new since February 2024). This means that the device is not only technically up to date, but also ensures that your vehicle is equipped in accordance with the standard.
Benefit: The precisely tuned charging characteristic extends the service life of the batteries and reduces failures during use.

3. BW 801e: Electronic undervoltage protection with additional functions
The BW 801e is more than a simple undervoltage protection device. It protects 12 V and 24 V vehicle electrical systems against undervoltage and overvoltage with particularly low power consumption. The threshold values for the alarm can be set individually using a DIP switch, allowing it to be used with different battery types.
An audible and visual alarm as well as an alarm output ensure maximum transparency in vehicle operation. The high current carrying capacity (70 A) and solid M6 bolts allow the direct connection of heavy electrical loads without the need for an additional relay. Thanks to hysteresis, triggering due to voltage peaks is prevented. As an option, the BW 801e can also be used as a remote-controlled battery main switch.
Conclusion: Intelligent protection, flexible in use for maximum operational safety.

4. PCM5: Versatile on-board power distributor for safe power distribution
Where several AC consumers are operated in the vehicle, clean power distribution is crucial. Our ready-to-connect wiring system distributors such as the PCM5 model (here type -1K-1K-1R-1RCD-16) ensure this. Including personal circuit breaker and installation relay.
The compact device is perfect for protecting chargers, sockets or air conditioning systems. Depending on the individual application, it can be optionally equipped with additional relays, operating hours counters or insulation monitoring.
Advantage: Safe distribution, quickly installed - for organised networks in the emergency vehicle.

5. RC9 with FireCAN: Compact onboard charger with BOS interface
New: The RC series charger has been specially developed for high demands in emergency vehicles. It offers an impressive efficiency of up to 96 % in a minimal installation space. The RC9 is suitable for use with lead and lithium batteries and is optimally protected against dust and water thanks to IP 67.
Another highlight is the FireCAN interface, which enables direct integration into BOS vehicles. This allows the state of charge and operating status to be monitored centrally. Configuration and control are also carried out via the CAN bus, which is ideal for modern vehicle architectures. The RC series supports a wide input of 110 to 230 V and is equipped with waterproof connections on both the AC and DC sides.
In short: maximum efficiency, minimum size - the RC9 sets new standards for onboard chargers.
